Michael F. Herbert, 68, of Anacortes, WA, passed away on Sunday June 9th. He successfully beat esophageal cancer, but died suddenly from unrelated causes Sunday night. He was born on January 13, 1945, in Santa Rosa, CA, to Frank and Beverly Herbert. He graduated from Piedmont High School (’62) and received a bachelor of arts in History from UC Berkeley (’66). He had a lifelong career in the lumber industry. He moved from Healdsburg to Anacortes in 2001. He loved reading, boating, woodworking, hiking, and correcting people's grammar. In addition to his wife, Carol, he is survived by his children Julie Herbert (Bob McCallister) and Greg Herbert, Adam Wise and Ashley Wise, and two grandchildren, Matthew and James. He is also survived by his his siblings, Bill (Mary), Linda (Dave), and Rand (Mary), his Aunt Helen Herbert, and a large extended family.
