We recently learned of the death of Buz Sawyier who many of us remember as Rol, on November 28,2009. He sent us an update for the 1997 Highlander Echoes which fills in some of the blanks. After leaving Piedmont High School, he spent. .. "four years in the Navy, working on military aircraft, [and then] I joined Western Airlines in San Francisco and began my career in aviation. In the past 30 years Western and Delta Airlines have moved me from place to place. Some nice and some not so nice. The short list reads as follows: Denver, San Francisco, Los Angeles (twice), Salt Lake City (twice), Sacramento, Cincinnati, Atlanta, and finally back home to the Bay Area. Just so there is no mistake, my new responsibilities still require that I travel enough to be an honorary member of the million mile a year club. During all this I managed to go through two marriages and even raise a 20 year old daughter who is attending college at Foothill. It's been a whirlwind ride but I have enjoyed every minute of it and made many friends in the process." Occasionally, he would forward me a piece of political commentary and we would talk about it in email land. We will all miss Buz and our thoughts go out to his family.
