In Memory

Lex Winton

Lem Cragholm was kind enough to share this account of Lex Winton's life. "Our dear friend, Lex Winton, died in November from a heart attack. While unforeseen, it was not unexpected given the declining state of his health over these last few years. Of course, true to his character, Lex remained cheerful and good-natured until the very end.

"Lex was an affable and easy-going individual who was pleasant to everyone he met and knew; he simply never had a bad word to say of anyone. I am certain you all will have a favorable remembrance of him; (mine are too numerous to recount). For those who may have lost touch after high school, Lex attended Menlo College and graduated from UC-Santa Barbara. He worked professionally for the Pacific Coast Stock Exchange, Charles Schwab, and various banks in the Bay Area. He was married twice (both times to outgoing and social women who complemented and offset his somewhat 'shy' nature) and had two children.

"All in all, holding aside his health issues, Lex enjoyed a very privileged life. But more importantly, he appreciated his many blessings. He is one of the few individuals I have known who was 'selfactualized,' and therefore, content with his life. My friendship with Lex began in 7th grade and continues through my fond memories. He was one of my best friends who enriched my life. I will miss him." And we all will miss him.
